FAQ's AT THE 89ER THEATRE

FAQ

Q:    Why isn’t one of the latest films opening at the 89er Theatre?

A:  There are multiple reasons for this situation, the first being that we have only 3 screens.  Movie companies often release a limited number of film prints (especially during the slow seasons) and choose not to give us one and at times we must choose one film over another because it will bring in more customers.

Q:  Why do 3D films cost more than regular films?

A:  First of all the additional production cost for 3D is $15 million.  Secondly the equipment cost is $70,000 per screen, and lastly theatres must pay cost of 3D glasses.

Q:  Why can’t I keep my 3D glasses?

A:  The glasses are loaners which are then recycled helping to keep costs down. You will be given a new pair each time you see a 3D film at our theatre.  Our RealD glasses do not work with home videos.

Q:  Why can’t I buy tickets to the 89er on line?

A:  This service would generate an additional cost to customer and we wish to keep prices down.

Q:  Why can’t I bring my own refreshments in to the theatre?

A:  It is no secret than in the movie industry, theatres make (if any) profit from concessions sales.  Our costs for renting new film releases ranges from 52% to 60% of the ticket sales.  The theatre’s share of this barely pays the salaries of the workers who serve you at the theatre and we still must pay the bills.  However, our concession prices are lower than any theatres in the area as are our ticket prices.

Q:  Why is there advertising before the movie?

A:   Advertising dollars have helped allow us to update seating and invest in new equipment (3D).  It also allows us to keep prices lower in order that more people are able to afford the cost of a movie.  We are VERY GRATEFUL to our advertisers for their support of the theatre for our community.  We hope you will in turn support them.

Q:  Do you have a question that was not addressed?

A:  Please email Theatre Manager.
